THE OUTHOUSE
by Brother Johnny “The Baptist” Campbell B.A.D.F.
Here’s a family with an odd name. It’s the OUT family, and I mean there is a house full of them in the Bible.
Like all families, there are some good and some bad kin that happens to carry the family name. This family is named the OUT Family, or the OUT House, like when folks pass by my house, they say, “that’s the Campbell house.” Or, you go to Nashville, and Johnny Cash’s house is known as the House of Cash. I bet you know some of the OUT family; like Show OUT, Speak OUT, Time OUT, Come OUT, Try OUT, Fell OUT, Sneak OUT, Throw OUT, You’re OUT, Git OUT, Cop OUT, Way OUT, Keep OUT, Put OUT, and we all know the Daddy of the OUT house: Brother Butt OUT and his lady Check OUT.
Lets look at some OUTS in the Bible.
I. There’s Shut Out.
In Genesis 6:14-17, God told Noah to build and ark, and put a door in the side, so that those that would not enter by the door would be shut out.
In John 10:9, Jesus said, “I am the door. By me if any man enter in shall be saved.” Glory to God! Jesus also said in Revelation 3:7-8 that if he opened a door no man can shut it. In Matthew 25:1-13 The ten virgins went out to meet the groom. But in verse 10, the door was shut on five of them. Oh my friend, Jesus is coming! I pray that you will not wind up a SHUT OUT!
II. There’s Hide Out.
In Genesis 3:8-10, Adam and Eve were hiding out from God. They thought just like a lot of you hearing this sermon, like you young folks, you think your so cool, hiding things from your parents and from God Almighty. You’re a nut! There’s an old song called Charlie Brown that said, “You’re gonna get caught, just you wait and see.” Then Charlie would say, “Why’s everybody always picking on me.” Like the old saying says; “You can run, but you cannot hide.” AMEN AMEN. Be sure your sins will find you out (Numbers 32:23)
Achan tried it and was caught.
David tried it and was caught.
Annanias and Sapphira got caught.
Jimmy Swaggart got caught.
David Hyles got caught.
The Preachers who stole my sign from Faith Baptist Campgrounds in Resacca, GA got caught..
These not only hid OUT, but were found OUT!
It reminds me of my little girl peeking out from her baby blanket, thinking that I couldn’t see her hiding, and she would say, “Daddy can’t see me.” I bet you have some members that hide out?
III. There’s Went Out
Genesis 4:16-17 says that Cain went out from the presence of the LORD. Now Cain was full of hate, and murdered his brother. But sir, Why have you went out?
Judas Iscariot went out from the Lord (John 13:30)
I have known folks just like Judas. I would never have expected them to have “went out” from the Lord’s service. If you have went out like the prodigal, please come home today.
IV. There’s Sell Out
Esau sold his birthright for beans. Don’t laugh! I know some of you have sold out for a pat on the back (bragging on you)!
Judas sold out for thirty pieces of silver. Some have sold out for pleasure and popularity.
V. There’s Shell Out
Thank God for this crowd who don’t mind giving to God’s work. Jesus watches what you give.
Read Luke 21:1-4
Luke 21:1-4 (KJV) And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.
Proverbs 3:9-10 (KJV) Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Leviticus 27:30-34 (KJV) And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD. And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.
VI. There’s Wore Out
Boy, that’s me. Four to six thousand miles a month, living on a maximum of three hours of sleep per night. B
Believe me I am wore out. Poor old Pastors that I know are ready to drop. They are always playing nurse maid and baby sitter to a bunch of church babies.
Preacher; stop sleeping on church members’ door steps, drinking coffee and eating donuts, hoping they won’t leave you. I hope that the next time you do that, you get 5,000 sand fleas under your arm pits.
Yes! You can get wore out!
Read Mark 6:30-31
Mark 6:30-31 (KJV) And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
Jesus rested Himself in John 4:6
There’s no sin taking a vacation! Don’t take church members with you, knucklehead! You get your family together. Get your wife some red roses, a red negligée, and leave that stinking cell phone and computer at home! Be sure to disappear from church folks, and if you mention church folks one time, I pray that you get lock jaw. Amen, ladies?
VII. There’s Hang Out
The Apostle Paul said to come out from among them. You are saved. Don’t hang out with the old crowd. Young folks have a saying nowadays; “just hangin’ out.” You can hang out with the wrong people, even in Church! Amen, Amen.
Paul said in 1st Corinthians 5:9-11
1 Corinthians 5:9-11 (KJV) I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
You hang out with dogs, and your’e gonna get fleas. I beg you not to hang out with anyone, even a preacher if he is not filled with the Holy Ghost. Look! Samson hung out with the wrong women. I know preachers that started hanging out with the legalists and now their ministry is ruined. You’d better watch where you hang out.
VIII. There’s Drop Out
Galatians 6:7 (KJV) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
These folks did run well when they started, but dropped out, because they were running with the legalist. I will tell you now in no uncertain terms that when a man preaches about owning a television, and he has a computer on the internet, mark my words, he’s a two faced hypocrite. There’s 90% more pornography on the web than on T.V. Amen Amen.
How I have seen in the last five years, men drop out of the race; I mean giants.
IX. There’s Holding Out
It’s dangerous to hold out on God. Just ask Annanias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11. Who causes people to hold out on God?
Acts 5:3 says that it’s Satan. Holding out puts you under the curse of God (Malachi 3:8-10).
X. There’s Blow Out
1 Corinthians 4:6 (KJV) And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
Puffed up and ready to blow out
Come to Church like an oil well: “Thar she blows!”
Come to Church ready to fight: Just like a recapped tire that runs good in the winter time. But when the heat comes on, she will blow! That’s just like some of you here right now. You come to church to critique every sermon, so you can let her blow out to show your stupidity, and run off some little limp wristed, boot licking preacher. Have you ever wondered how many preachers you have blown out in this Church.
XI. There’s Lay Out
Laying out of Church
Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
The Church is Christ’s Bride. Don’t tell me you love Jesus and don’t like his wife. You been laying out, scratching your head saying, “Why is Jesus mad at me?” Hey! He doesn’t like the way that you’re treating His bride!
XII. There’s Knock Out
1 Corinthians 9:26 (KJV) I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
Paul said not to beat the air. Go for a knock-out punch. Sorry to inform you sleeping saint, but we are in a fight. If you want to throw the devil out, get in an old fashioned, sin fighting church, and back your preacher.
XIII. There’s Fall Out
These fall out from fainting. Read Proverbs 24:10 and Acts 20:7.
Proverbs 24:10 (KJV) If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
Acts 20:7 (KJV) And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
This young man fell out because he was getting more out of the world than he was in the church. So will you, my friend.
We are in the falling away, right?
XIV. There’s Go Out
These go out after sinners, but also after struggling saints. We have a mandate from Christ Himself to go into highways and byways, and compel them to come in. Believe me, if you ain’t fishing, you ain’t following. Jesus said, “Go, and Lo, I am with you unto the end of the world.” Sonny Boy; if there’s no Go, there is no Lo!
Finally; I thought that I knew you were kin to the OUT family, because while I was preaching, I thought you would Pass OUT!
A family resemblance, huh??
